Services
Breast Surgery
Mr Haddawi performs focussed breast ultrasound in the clinic. He can perform cyst aspirations and take biopsies during the consultation under ultrasound guidance (at Mana Clinic). Mr Haddawi performs many surgical procedures, including Mastectomy, Breast-conserving Surgery, Sentinel Node Biopsy, Axillary Surgery, and Breast Lump Excision.
Endocrine Surgery
Mr Haddawi’s endocrine lists are done either publicly (at Taranaki Base Hospital) or privately (at Southern Cross). His scope of practice in this sub-speciality covers the Thyroid (for goitres, nodules, graves disease and cancer), Parathyroid, and Adrenal Glands. He can perform needle biopsies for selected thyroid nodules under ultrasound guidance on-site at Mana Clinic.
Skin Surgery
Skin cancer surgery is a major part of our practice. Operations are done both under local and general anaesthesia for all types of skin cancer (BCC, SCC, Melanoma, etc.). Mr Haddawi is an expert in this field, and has published in it. Other procedures include the removal of foreign bodies, lipomas, and ingrown toenails. These procedures can be done either on-site at Mana Clinic, or at Taranaki Base/Southern Cross Hospitals.
Hernia Repair
Being a vast chunk of his expertise, Mr Haddawi sees and operates on Inguinal, Femoral, Umbilical, Epigastric, and Incisional Hernias. Operations are either Laparoscopic (keyhole) or open, both at public and private hospitals. The best surgical procedure is discussed and tailored to the individual's needs.
Gallbladder Surgery
We perform Open and Laparoscopic (keyhole) Cholecystostomies (gallbladder removal), most commonly due to gallstones and gallbladder pain (biliary colic). This operation is done under general anaesthesia and may require a one-night stay in hospital, either at Southern Cross (private procedures) or Taranaki Base (public procedures).
Haemorrhoid Surgery
Haemorrhoid banding (using a rubber band applied to the haemorrhoid base), cuts off its blood supply. This causes the haemorrhoid to fall off. Banding can be done on-site at Mana Clinic, whilst the surgical excision (removal) of haemorrhoids takes place in theatre under general anaesthesia. Mr Haddawi curates and tailors treatment options to suit individual needs and haemorrhoid stage.
Varicose Veins
Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins that are visible under the skin. They most commonly involve the veins in the lower limbs. Varicose veins are caused by defective valves inside the vein, resulting in the increase of blood pressure within the vessels. Visible unsightly veins, leg pain and ulcers are common symptoms. Mr Haddawi performs surgical removal of varicose veins under general anaesthetic.
Endoscopy
Colonoscopy (examination of the colon), Gastroscopy (examination of the oesophagus (food tube), stomach and duodenum (first segment of the small intestines)), and Flexible Sigmoidoscopy (short Colonoscopy) are some of Mr Haddawi’s most common procedures. Biopsies and removal of polyps are undertaken during the examination.
Ultrasound
Mr Haddawi can perform ultrasound guided biopsies for certain breast lumps, thyroid nodules, aspiration of cysts or fluid collection and removal of foreign bodies and Jaddelle rods.
